Speak Elvish To Me

'Quel amrun, rwalaera!

Is it any wonder, really, that Elves eat greens?

Hmmm...the Wise Ones, the Higher Beings.

Strength. Beauty. LONGEVITY.

Must be something to that plant power.

(How cute is Gandalf when he's more focused on dinner than what Elrond is saying!)

I travel often, and I always pack "waybread" with me. Usually a loaf of Manna that I pre-slice. It has saved my sanity and quelled my voracious hunger many times. You just never know when you might end up in the middle of the night on a side street in Prague after everything has closed, save for a tiny window where something called pizza, but that which bears no resemblance to its namesake, is served.

Once back in Rivendell, of course, we can enjoy the luxury of concocting our own fantastic plant potions, like this one I want to share with you. It's based on a recipe by the awesome David Wolfe, a nutrition expert and a seriously amazing human.

(Human, no less! Imagine!)

Elven Elixir

  • 1-2 C. organic blueberries
  • 1 C. organic spinach
  • 1 C. coconut water
  • 1 C unsweetened almond milk or spring water
  • Tbsp unsweetened cacao powder. Make that HEAPING.
  • 1 tsp. lucuma powder (available here)
  • 1 Tbsp tocotreinol powder (available here)
  • 6-12 drops liquid vanilla stevia
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 4-6  ice cubes

Blend it all together on high speed, until the fruit and greens are finely pulverized, and the drink is thick and creamy.

You have a major superfood blend here, bursting with nutrients that strengthen the body, beautify the skin, and give you calm, clear energy.

Oh, and did I mention how WILDLY delicious it is?

Tenna ento lye omenta, Melaminea...
